FIRE BURN TRAINING

275 British pounds
West Reading, Berkshire

Service Description

As an introduction to fire burns and safety or as a refresher session for those who have done burns before, the session includes up to 3 burns per person. Covering partial to 3/4 fire burns (arms; legs & body without silicone mask), fire safety and safe practices when working in and around fire. With varying dressing options, DRY/PRE-WET burns will be covered where underwear is not soaked pre-burn or is dipped prior to dressing. The option is there to perform the same burn with different dressing methods or 3 completely different types of burn. IMPORTANT: All garments including fire resistant underwear; fire suits, wet suits; waterproofs and clothes to burn in are to be provided by you, the participant. No part of this will be provided by us so please be sure to order anything in time if you need it for the session. For outer clothing that it is intended for you to burn in, it is recommended to bring hard wearing material for the actual burns for example denim; corduroy; leather etc including appropriate footwear (expensive shoes/trainers/boots are best left at home). Avoid thin and highly flammable fabrics like wool; silk; fleece and polyester. If you do bring these types of fabric, you will likely not be able to burn for as long. These items of clothing are likely to get burned damage so please do not bring your expensive Nike to burn in. Charity shops and supermarkets with clothing sections, even Amazon are great places to source burn clothes from cheaply. It is advisable to bring several layers of clothing in case any get scorched however the burns we do can be on different parts of the body so no real panic if you only have one set. Remember to upsize if you are layering up on clothing, as these garments will be going over your protective undergarments. Multiple layers also means you can reduce the need for as much fire resistant undergarments (depending on burn garment material of course). Fire suits, wet suits and waterproofs are not compulsory but fire resistant underwear is (CarbonX; Nomex; OMP etc), no underwear; no burn. A pair of fire resistant gloves are highly recommended and for those who don’t want to have fire protective gel in their hair, a fire resistant balaclava is also recommended. Limited to 10 places.
